Touted as one of the hottest bands in the country today, Orange
And Lemons is creating much buzz in the music scene
these days. Aside from being reminiscent of the melodic ditties
of the Beatles, and the unforgettable, hook-laden songs of
80's New Wave guitar bands like the Smiths and Housemartins,
Orange and Lemons' own songs are downright original and have
a lot of heart, providing a breath of fresh air to all Pinoy
music enthusiasts.
Composed of Clem Castro (electric guitars/
vocals), Mcoy Fundales (acoustic guitar/
vocals), JM Del Mundo (bass guitar), and Ace
del Mundo (drums), Orange and Lemons released their
debut album " Love in the Land of Rubber Shoes and
Dirty Ice Cream " in December 2003. Their debut
single " Just Like A Splendid Love Song " enjoyed
airplay in several radio stations.
The band signed up with Universal Records late
2004 and in May 2005, Orange and Lemons launched their second
album " Strike Whilst the Iron is Hot " .
The album's carrier single, " Hanggang Kailan " conquered
the airwaves and in a short span of time, reigned in the
top 10 spots in many radio stations' weekly countdown. It
also hit the MTV Diyes chart and remained
there for several weeks. Their second single " Heaven
Knows (This Angel Has Flown) " was #1 in NU107 's Midnight
Countdown for four straight weeks. It likewise
invaded the MTV Diyes and MYX charts.
The Pinoy Big Brother theme " Pinoy
Ako " dominated TV airtime, radio airplay, many
music charts, mobile phone ringtones, and even, unintentionally,
an important athletic competition.
With the magic of the three singles "Hanggang
Kailan", "Heaven Knows" and "Pinoy
Ako", the indie-pop band was catapulted
into mainstream popularity and stardom.
