There are several valid reasons why Jed Madela is popularly
known as the singer's singer. First and foremost, the world-class
performer who has just released his second Universal
Records album titled "Songs
Rediscovered" owns a unique, natural and powerful musical
instrument -- his rich tenor voice which allows him to
sing almost every song in unlimited range.
That's also
why several quarters in Philippine music scene has aptly
called him "The Voice". Then comes
the numerous international awards bestowed on him --- fitting
testaments to his rare talent as a song artist. When he
won the silver prize at the 2003 Voice of Asia International
Song Festival in Kazakhstan , he also bagged the Best Voice
of Asia Male Singer for 2002, given by the Mainhill Awards
in the same global contest.
Also in the same songfest,
Jed bagged the Grand Champion plum as the people's choice
in the Internet Poll Survey, participated by all the 32
countries which sent their votes. On the same year, the
Celebrity Chronicle in Hollywood , U.S.A. bestowed on him
the Breakthrough Male Performer of the Year 2003. For all
these international honors Jed brought home to our country,
President Gloria M. Arroyo awarded him a plaque of Distinction
and Honor.
Jed has already received a gold record award for his duet
with Karylle on the Fourth World Meeting of families theme
song, "Only Selfless Love". The Voice
plays the Asian male lead in the world renowned pop musical
concert "East Meets West" which has already
been staged at the Philippines and Hong Kong Cultural Centers
. The show featuring several selected musical artists all
over the globe will be touring the United States and Europe
. Internationally acclaimed conductor and musical director
Maurice Littikhause also produced "East Meets West". He
has this to say about Jed: "Jed is the only indispensable
artist in the musical concert. He is a world class singer
that could definitely become a superstar in Europe ".
Jed
is also the voice behind several commercial jingles, the
latest of which is the Rexona hit, "Wala Ba Kayong
Mga Kamay", which was lip synched by the Power Four.
Now a familiar voice over local airlanes, Jed has several
hits to his credit such as "Let Me Love You (From the Bottom
Of My Heart)", which was No. 1 song in leading radio stations;
and "Laging Ikaw", also a most requested chart-topper from
his debut Universal Records album, "I'll Be Around". On
his second album, "Song Rediscovered", the compleat
balladeer performs pop hits which everyone can relate to.
Consider such titles as Elton John's "Your Song", Keith
Martin's "Because Of You", William Brothers' "Can't Cry
Hard Enough", Michael Jackson's/Diana Ross' "Home", Rick
Price's "Heaven Knows", and more recent chartbusters like "How
Can I Fall", "The Past", "For The First Time", "Changes
In My Life", "More Than You'll Ever Know", "Time Will Reveal" and "The
Search Is Over".
It's amazing how Jed Madela's velvety
smooth voice interprets the 17 songs in the album, and
even sounding that all these covers are his own songs.
With his new "Songs Rediscovered" album,
Jed Madela is definitely destined to further musical greatness.
